An Introduction to the Leg Bag Medical Product
What is a leg bag? This refers to a bag that is used for storing urinary waste. This refers to the second part of a catheterization system, one that stores the flow of urine for later disposal. This bag is connected to the catheter by way of a tube. The collection bag and tubing is made so that kinks are prevented, and no urine escapes, or flows back into the bladder.
When buying a leg bag look for sizing information. Some bags are large, whereas some are relatively small, perhaps only holding 34 ounces. Inside the bag is a flutter valve, which prevents backflow and protects the individual. The bag connects to the individual’s leg through tying elastic straps, or perhaps Velcro.
